The sea cave on the boat route
Pirates' Cave is a sea cave in the cliffs along the coast near Dhërmi, reached by boat from the beach. Small craft can slip inside the tall, narrow opening, where the water glows deep blue against the pale rock — a regular stop on summer boat trips along the Riviera. The cave was hollowed out of the limestone cliffs by the sea over a very long time, and sea caves along this stretch of the Ceraunian coast are traditionally linked with pirates, which gives the spot its name.
The draw is the dramatic entrance and the intensely blue water inside, framed by sculpted rock and arches. Boats edge in when the sea is calm, and many trips pair the cave with a swim stop in the clear water outside — this is one of the otherwise-empty "caves and coves" of the coast that only opens up from the water.
How to visit
There's no way to reach the cave on foot: it's by boat only. Join a summer boat trip or hire a water taxi from Dhërmi or a neighbouring beach — going inside depends on a calm sea, so conditions on the day matter. It's an easy 1–2 hour stop as part of a wider trip.
