May–June & September–October — the sweet spot

One nuance decides between spring and autumn: the sea. In May the water is still cool (around 16–21°C, warming toward the end of the month), fine for a bracing dip but not lazy swimming; by June it's a comfortable ~22–23°C; it peaks around 26–28°C in August and — crucially — holds a lovely 24–25°C right through September. Since the swimming season runs long (roughly June to November, when the water rarely drops below 20°C), September and early October are the real sweet spot: warm sea and thin crowds together. July & August — peak summer

November–April — the quiet season
From November to April Dhërmi is cooler and wetter, around 5–15°C with rainy spells, and very quiet. Many beach businesses close for the winter, and a car is essential as bus and furgon services thin right out. It is better for low prices and solitude than for beach life — beautiful and near-empty, but with little open along the shore.
The Kala Festival factor
One date to have on your radar either way: Kala Festival, a boutique electronic-music festival held on Dhërmi Beach in early June (open-air stages right on the sand), which draws a big international crowd for a week. If that's your scene, it's a brilliant reason to come; if it isn't, it books out accommodation and packs the bay, so anyone after a quiet early-June beach break should check the festival dates and give that week a miss. It's the one thing that can turn sleepy shoulder-season Dhërmi into a full-on party overnight.
